I Should Probably Keep My Mouth Shut

Well, not much going on. Work and non-work stuff. However, I must tell you of a little thing that happened yesterday.

I went with Zelia to her Book Club. It's a bunch of people (women) who get together every month and discuss a book they all read. Yes, sounds simple. I'm just making sure we are all on the same page.

Sometimes I've already read the book in question, so I go over and join in. Oh, I also go for the food. All kinds of snack food. Book Club's nickname is Snack Club. Yesterday, I hadn't read the book, but went over anyway.

There were six of us (including Zelia and myself) there. One of the women, R, had brought her three month (I think) old. I mention this only because it's very important to the story. There was also one other guy there. I mention this only because it means I wasn't the only guy there.

Surprise, surprise, the women start talking about childbirth and kids because of the baby there and because a friend of Zelia and me had a baby last week. The conversation turns to the pain of child birth and the drugs one can take. R starts to talk about this new drug and she's trying to remember the name. People are calling out names and none of them are right. So I decide to join in the fun and call out "thalidomide". Wow, the reaction I got! Everyone was laughing out loud, mostly because of my tasteless joke (meh, I go with what I'm good at). R was just looking at me and asked the hostess if the big candle beside her was heavy and if it would be missed. Fortunately, no candle was thrown.

I'm so funny.
